Steve Kinney

Steve is the front-end modeler at Transient. Beforehand, he was the front-end modeler at Twilio and SendGrid. He is the chief emeritus and pioneer behind the front-end engineering program at the Turing School for Software and Plan in Denver, Colorado — a non-profit designer training program. In a past life, Steve was a New York City government funded teacher. He showed custom curriculum and web improvement in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Sovereigns. He as of now lives in Denver, Colorado

Workshop Subtleties

In this workshop, we examine how to utilize code to control hardware. Using the both the official Arduino SDK and Johnny-Five library for Node.js, we will figure out how to make LEDs light up, control Web APIs, read update web pages, pull information in from outsider APIs, and read information from the world around us. En route, we will become familiar with the basics of electronics and work with microcontrollers.
